Welcome to the new academic year and our sincere hope that all of you found some time to rest, relax, recharge the batteries and have some fun along the way.
The Autumn term is a long one, always lots to do and, for School and Governor Support, this new term provides an opportunity for us to focus on what we are identifying as the Year of the Governor (YOTG). In addition to the usual three Termly Briefings for Chairs, we are looking to put on a series of at least six ‘Focused Events’ which will essentially be a brief topic introduction followed by a facilitated discussion.
By the end of the session, this will lead to a commitment to try something new or different. At the end of the academic year these will culminate in a ‘gathering’ to share the impact of these new ways of working. We will keep you updated as the year progresses and the Focused Events are confirmed. We have a small working party to consider the content for the year but are always keen to hear your views and ideas.
Do join us at the first Focused Event in October (date to be confirmed) and at the Termly Briefing for Chairs on Wednesday 6 November 2019 when we will share more about the rest of the year. Why don’t you really make a commitment to the YOTG by signing up for the second day of the Learning to Shape Birmingham Conference and join us for the dedicated governor breakfast first? We would love to see you there!
