IOSH Managing Safely - Refresher May 2018

Outline

This one day programme will refresh delegates understanding of health and safety requirements relating to their work activities. It will include examples relevent to BCC work activities, highlight organizational and human influences on safety at work and focuses on a range of risk control measures essential to company activities.

Description

The course will cover the following areas:

Assessing and controlling risk
Common law liabilities for health and safety failures
Criminal law responsibilities for health and safety failures
Identifying and controlling specific risks such as fire, electricity, work equipment, display screen equipment, manual handling, noise, and hazardous substances
Principles of accident and incident investigation and prevention
Measuring safety performance
Protecting the environment.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

Describe the causes of accidents and apply accident prevention principles
Outline legal requirements for health and safety
Carry out risk assessments, inspections and accident investigations
Outline risks associated with a wide range of activities
Select appropriate precautions and controls to reduce activity risks
Apply management principles to create a positive health & safety culture

Outcomes

The course is assessed through the completion of an examination and practical project. All papers are marked internally and verified by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

Audience

The course is aimed at delegates who have previouly undertaken the full 4 day IOSH Managing Safely programme and must be completed before the previous certificate has expired.
