This course is available to Designated Safeguarding Leads and Education based staff with a pastoral and/or attendance role. Designed to enable effective completion of the SOSW paperwork, Early Help Assessment, Our Family Plan and the Request for Support in a way that captures family input alongside professional concern.
The session provides an overview of Early Help practice skills in engagement, assessment and planning using SOSW methodology.
Name of course: Half day SOSW
Purpose: To enable effective delivery and recording of Early Help in education settings meeting requirements in Keeping Children Safe in Education, 2018.
Designed for: Staff responsible for engaging directly with families to deliver “in setting” EH responses and coordinate multi-agency EH plans.
This is a practical course applying the Birmingham SOSW tools, practice and methodology to Education based safeguarding practice including;
The Cycle of Change EARS (turning questions into conversations) Three houses Three columns Scaling
Please note if you have previously attended the 3 day early help course, there is no need to attend this half day course.
